Nathan Thomas Purdue, 35, of Lapel passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1983, in Anderson to Jeffrey Thomas and Vicky Lynn (Cox) Purdue.
Nathan graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 2002.
He farmed with his parents.
Nathan loved being a father and enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill and smoker. He was very fond of photographing sunsets and storms, animals and farming. He loved being around water and outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Megan Dowden; one daughter who he adored, Lauxley; a stepson, Elijah McDole; his parents; two sisters, Nikki Navalo and Amanda Schafer; his maternal grandparents, Keith and Alice Cox; his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Charlsie Purdue; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main St., Lapel, with Pastor Tad Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
