Patricia Jean Doan, 76, of Anderson, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at Community Hospital following a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born in Evansville on Aug. 19, 1941, to Maurice and Eleanor Cullen.
On Aug. 29, 1989, she married Douglas W. Doan and they shared over 28 years of marriage together. PJ was a loving spirit full of spunk. Those who knew her know her for her take life by the horns philosophy. She lived her life like that and sadly left her life the same way. Cancer was the one foe that gave her more than she could handle. While her spirit continued to fight her body threw in the towel. Pat spent 35 years as an emergency room nurse at Community Hospital in Anderson as well as teaching EMT classes for the Anderson Fire Department.
Her presence touched and changed countless lives. Her stature was tiny but her heart was enormous. Pat loved her family, her friends, her community, and anyone she met. If you knew her, you know that. There will be no funeral services. That is the way Pat wants it. She doesn't want you crying over her. She wants you to LIVE!! Cherish your family and your friends.
Pat is survived by her husband of 28 years, Douglas W. Doan; children, Tony Johnson (fiancee, Christine) of Anderson, Jenny (husband, Rick) Coleman of Lapel and Stephanie Johnson of Lapel; grandchildren, Keith, Travis, Reid (wife, Ariah), Levi (wife, Meggie), Rachel, Noah, Amber, and Bella; great-grandchildren, Zain, Cassidie, and Tiffany; brother, Mike; sister, Jan; cousin, Kathleen; close friends, Linda, Dara, Donna, and Jackie; (too many to count) and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; sister, Pallie; and brothers, Bobby, Jim and Butch.
Dunnichay Funeral Home has been entrusted with Pat's care.
