Randal Dean Sellers, 65, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully Nov. 5, 2017, at his home.
Randy was born Oct. 24, 1952, in Warsaw. He attended Grace College in Warsaw, where he received his bachelor degree in both elementary education and physical education and where he met his wife of 42 years, Priscilla. He continued his pursuit of knowledge by completing his master's degree at Ball State University.
Randy had a passion for opening young minds to the endless possibilities that the world of education could offer. For 35 years, he taught and coached in the South Madison Community School Corp. where he touched the lives of countless students, many who later themselves pursued a career in education, citing Randy as their inspiration to do so. Relationships were of the upmost importance to Randy and his ability to reach out to others through visits, casual conversations during his runs and walks through town, letters, sending newspaper clipping to students of their accomplishments and prayers was unmatched. As an avid runner and man of faith, he loved the verse, "I press toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me Heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:14). Randy ran a great race for God and his legacy will live on.
Randy is survived by wife, Priscilla (Olson) Sellers; son, Ryan, his wife Vanessa (Shelton) Sellers and their children, Landon Dean, Luke Ryan and Lainey Nicole; daughter, Dawn (Sellers) Weiss and husband Dan Weiss; brother, Bruce (wife, Ruth) of Goshen; sisters, Jody Bentlzer (husband, Dennis) of Kokomo, Sharon Wolters (husband, Clark) of Portis, Kansas, Anita Wolters (husband, Tony) of Portis, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss his presence dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard D. and Virginia Rose Sellers; beloved daughter, Nicole; and many dear loved ones.
