Raymond L. "Ray" Harmon, 91, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Community Park View Care Center, Elwood, following an extended illness.
Ray was born July 29, 1926, in Orestes, to Clyde and Rose (King) Harmon, and lived in the Alexandria area most of his lifetime.
He retired in 1982 from the former Johns-Manville Co. after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Larry) Amos of Elwood; grandson, Mike (Michelle) Clabaugh of Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Monica (Anthony) Presley of Anderson, Paige (Stephen) Bruner of Chesterfield, and Ethan McCoy of Alexandria; great-great-grandchildren, McKenna Presley of Anderson and Mallory Bruner of Chesterfield; stepgrandson, Sonny (Laura) Amos of Tuckerman, Arkansas; stepgranddaughters, Jamie (Gordon) White of Syracuse, Amber Campbell of Marion and Lori Ann Perry of Greenwood; 13 stepgreat- grandchildren; and granddoggie, GiGi Amos.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Freda Thomas Harmon in 1991; daughter, Linda Clabaugh in 1994; son, David Harmon in 1963; brothers, Calvin Harmon and George Harmon; and sister, Edith Weasel.
Services honoring Raymond's life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Solid Rock Full Gospel Ministries, 700 N. 14th St., Elwood, with Pastor Jeff Haill officiating.
Friends may call at the church after 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the services. Private interment of cremains will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Solid Rock Full Gospel Ministries with envelopes available at the services.
Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria has been entrusted Raymond's services and family care.
