Richard "Mike" Hollingsworth, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Summitville on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, after a brief illness.
He was born May 21, 1949, in Anderson, to Omer and Irene (Bloom) Hollingsworth, and has lived in the Summitville area all of his lifetime.
Mike graduated from Summitville High School-Class of 1967. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Guide Lamp, formerly of Anderson in 1999 after 31 years.
He is survived by three sisters, Carol (Denzil) Elsworth of Summitville, Joyce Butcher of Fairmount, and Loretta (Keith) Dow of Alexandria; two brothers, Leon (Marjorie) Hollingsworth of Anderson, and Dennis (Grace) Hollingsworth of Fairmount; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Beverly McCleery, Dorothy Groom, Rosella Glass, Margaret Figel, Shirley Cole, Betty Hall, Ruth Hummer and Helen Hollingsworth.
Services honoring Mike's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville. Kara Tharp will officiate. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery at Summitville.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summitville Fire Department through the funeral home.
