Robert S. Burchette, 93, of Elwood, died April 25, 2016, at his residence.
He was born April 9, 1923, in Frankton, the son of James and Josephine (Swartz) Burchette. He retired in 1985 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson as a tool and die maker.
He was a 1942 graduate of Frankton High School, and later served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Theresa Lytle on Feb. 14, 1947. Robert was a member of East Main Street Christian Church, Quincy Masonic Lodge, and the Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Robert's family includes wife, Theresa Burchette of Elwood; three sons, Michael (Maryann) Burchette of Elwood, Gary (Debbie) Burchette of Summitville, and Mark (Judy) Burchette of Elwood; three grandchildren, Sandy (Doug) Bowerman, Scott Burchette, and Shadd (Janine) Burchette; five great-grandchildren, Daikan, Jonathan, Michael, Connor, and Wyatt; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bob (Marilyn) Lytle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five siblings.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood City Cemetery with military honors by the Army and Veterans of Foreign Wars honor guard. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and will include a Masonic Lodge Memorial at 7 p.m.
