Robert M. McCorkle, 95, of Anderson died in his sleep on Friday, July 14, 2017, at Providence Health Center, Anderson. He was born April 25, 1922, in Curtisville, the son of William and Blanch (Russell) McCorkle.
Bob was a fork truck driver at Delco Remy in Anderson for 30 years and retired in 1974. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bob was saved and baptized at Grace Baptist Church, Anderson. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and spending time with family.
Bob's family includes daughters, Treava (Terry) Ancil, Vicki (Bennie) Price, and Brenda (Nathan) Edwards, all of Anderson; sister, Rosemary Boles, of Elwood; grandchildren, Mandy (Jeff) Hauk, Jennifer (Steve) Teague, Kelly (Ted) Treesh, Shelly (Rob) Weston, Tiffanie (Josh) Plew, Justin (Meghan) Price, Chassidy Simmons and Bryant Simmons (girlfriend April Wright); 21 great-grandchildren; former spouse, Freida B. McCorkle of Anderson; special dog, Izzy; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Russell, Wonie, Bud, Frank and Virgil McCorkle.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, with Pastor Daniel Stevens of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Elwood, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service Wednesday at the funeral home.
