Ronald's Story

Ronald E. "Ron" Fuel, 83, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.
He was born on April 10, 1934, in Hope to Nelson and Elsie (Beroth) Fuel. Ron attended Middletown and Anderson schools. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1954. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1957. Ron retired from skilled trades at Delco-Remy in Anderson in 1982 after 30 years of employment.
He enjoyed golf, bowling and woodworking and anything mechanical. He enjoyed trail riding and trips on his Gold wing motorcycle. Ron was a devoted husband, provider and protector. He was an honest man and loyal to those things in life that mattered to him. He was known for his gruff exterior, but will be fondly remembered for his warm and wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Lela "Lee" (Owen) Fuel; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Fuel, Elizabethton, Tenn., Daniel (Shelly) Fuel, Bristol, Tenn., and Whitney Fuel Barnard, Anderson; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Collin, Brooklyn, Owen, Leela, Savannah and Sawyer; several nieces, nephews; and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Fuel; his mother, Elsie Fuel Bailey; his stepfather, Ralph Bailey; sons, Tim Fuel and John Fuel; grandson, Joshua Fuel; brother, John Fuel; sisters, Ruby Davis and Phyllis Bosley; in-laws, Frank and Cecil Owen; special four-legged friend, "Roscoe."
Services honoring Ron's life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, in the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment with military honors will take place in Richland Township Cemetery in rural Anderson. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to any children's hospital or the Anderson Animal Protection League.
