Ruth Ann Ernest, 84, Anderson, passed away March 12, 2018, at Wellbrooke of Carmel.
She was born April 28, 1933, in Haubstadt, Indiana, and resided most of her life in Pendleton.
Ruth Ann graduated from Evansville College with a bachelor's degree and from Indiana State University with a master's degree.
She worked as a music teacher for Fall Creek Elementary, Markleville Elementary, and eventually retiring from East Elementary, all in South Madison Community School Corp.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson. She enjoyed reading, and spending time with her grandson.
Ruth Ann is survived by her son, Byron (Hope) Ernest; grandson, Heath Ernest; daughter, Debbie Ernest; brothers, Edgar (Judy) Smith and Earl (Ruth) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Ernest; sister and brother-in-law, Lois (Fred) Prescott; and parents, Onis and Bernard Smith.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, and one hour before services Friday at the church.
A Celebration of Ruth Ann's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 907 N. Raible Ave., Anderson, with her son, Dr. Byron Ernest, officiating. Burial will be in Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Anderson's Pipe Organ Fund.
