RENSSELAER [mdash] Sherrie Ann Preston, 68, of Rensselaer, passed away unexpectedly March 5, 2018, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette.
She was born May 6, 1949, in Lancaster, Ohio, the daughter of Chalmer Milligan and Elizabeth (Nessen) Anderson, and her adoptive father, Allen C. Anderson.
Sherrie recently moved to Rensselaer from Sellersburg with her loving husband, Dan Preston, whom she married on July 24, 1971, in Millville, New Jersey.
Sherrie is also survived by her loving children, Ryan (Lindsey Hitchings) Preston of Rensselaer, and Dana (Bruce) Berry of Carmel; grandchildren, Derek, Grant, Drake and Taylor Berry and Anson Preston; and her siblings, Barbara Raines, Patricia Takita, Kimberly Mastrobuono, Dawn Chisholm and Allen "Skip" Anderson.
A graduate of Millville High School, Sherrie received her R.N. from the Ann May School of Nursing in Neptune, New Jersey, and her B.S. from St. Francis Joliet University. She retired in October 2017 from the University of Louisville Physician's Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sherrie had previously worked for Doctors Padgett, Bell and Thomas and Home Hospital, both in Lafayette, and St. John's Medical Center in Anderson.
Sherrie was raised in the Lutheran and Methodist faith. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts organization for many years, had a love of arts and crafts and enjoyed both gardening and entertaining. The time Sherrie spent with her family and her grandchildren brought her great joy.
Friends may visit with the family at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer from noon to 2 p.m. (CST) Saturday.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. CST at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Pastor John Hostetter officiating.
