ELWOOD - Shirley Ruth (Bates) Lundy, 73, passed away on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Community Heart & Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1944, in Monticello, Kentucky, to Jim and Daisy (Melton) Bates. She married Jerry Lundy on Jan. 3, 1987. Shirley loved spending time with family and gardening. Shirley's annual Thanksgiving get-together was also something she, and the family, looked forward to every year.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Jim Stump, Chris (Renee) Stump and John (Andrea) Lundy; her daughters, Amanda (Adam) Farley, Teresa Anderson, Patty (Rick) Buckingham, Jenny (Paul) Sizelove; her special kids, Jenny and Heintz Sickmann; brothers, Danny Bates and Thomas (Sherida) Bates; her sisters, Thelma Lovell, Edith Wesley, and Mary (Bob) Upchurch; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lundy, on Dec. 15, 2015; her parents; her brothers, Bobby Bates, James Bates, William (Bill) Bates, Samuel Bates and Charles Bates; her sisters, Nancy Bates and Josephine Bates; brother-in-law Larry Lundy; sisters-in-law, Norma Guffey, Mary Ruth Cowart, Barbara Hall and Corrine Richardson; and three nephews, Ted Reasoner, Jake Reasoner and Dean Cowart.
Following cremation, a private inurnment service will take place in the Garden of Serenity Columbarium Garden in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria.
