Theresa E. Burchette, 89, of Elwood, died Aug. 19, 2017, at her home following a battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born on June 13, 1928, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Weldon and Dorothy (Clevenger) Lytle. Theresa was a homemaker and also formerly worked at Leeson's Department Store.
She was a 1946 graduate of Wendell Willkie High School in Elwood and later married Robert S. Burchette on Feb. 14, 1947. Theresa was a 76-year member of East Main Street Christian Church; the former Home Economics Club; and Order of Eastern Star. Theresa especially enjoyed camping, reading, and caring for her husband.
Her family includes three sons, Michael (Maryanne) Burchette of Elwood, Gary (Debbie) Burchette of Summitville, and Mark (Judy) Burchette of Elwood; brother, Bob Lytle of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.; three grandchildren, Sandy (Doug) Bowerman and Scott Burchette, all of Elwood, and Shadd (Janine) Burchette of Greenwood; five great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a stepgreat-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Burchette; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Lytle.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood with the Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood, and includes an Order of the Eastern Star memorial at 7 p.m.
