Tommie Lee Griffin
Tommie attended Westvale Elementary, St. Ambrose, and graduated from Madison Heights/Anderson High School in 1998. He went on to continue his education at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky and received his physical therapy degree from Med Tech in 2007.
Tommie played baseball, basketball, was a male cheerleader, gymnastics, track and football and was a member of the Indians' 1998 boys basketball team when they won the Class 4A sectional championship and finished the season with a record of 22-2. He went on to play semi-pro for the Indianapolis Assassins. Tommie played every sport with passion, drive, energy, enthusiasm and was very competitive.
He was employed with Indiana Automotive Fasteners in Greenfield. Tommie was a family man, loved children and adored his mother.
Tommie is survived by his mother, Joyce (John Henry Stewart III) Griffin; his sisters, Marjean (Houston) Neal, Anderson, and Cherie (Rome) Griffin, Greensboro, North Carolina; brother, Terrance (Kimberli) Davis, Rock Hill, South Carolina; niece, Breuna Braxton, Anderson; nephews, Edward Braxton Jr., Anderson, Daytreon Davis and Kahmari Griffin, Greensboro, North Carolina; great-nieces, Karle Brockington and Harmony Braxton of Anderson; grandparents, Mother Ethel (Stewart) Anderson, and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by father, Lawrence Dunham; maternal grandparents, Jimmy (Addie Ruth) Griffin; great-grandparents, Luther (Vada) Nave, Eli (Sarah) Griffin; paternal grandparents, Late Bishop Stewart, David (Inez) Dunham; uncles, Jimmy Griffin, James Stewart, David Dunham, Marvin Dunham; aunts, Evedra Griffin, Ruthann Menfield; special cousin, Shameka Miles.
Service will be at noon Saturday at Park Place Church of God, 501 College Drive. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to noon prior to service.
