Vesta Lou (Going) Winters went to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Jan. 31, 2017, in Sugar Land, Texas.
Vesta Lou was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Pocahontas, Ark., but grew up in Pendleton, Ind., after the death of her parents. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1948. She moved to California and later married the love of her life in 1962, in Carson City, Nev. They moved to Sherman, Texas, in 1966 then retired and moved to Bradenton, Fla., in 1980. They remained in Florida until 2007, and returned to Texas for their golden years.
Vesta Lou will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her from coast to coast. She enjoyed many things in life including: nice cars, crossword puzzles, games of all kinds, football, fishing, singing and dancing! She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling to visit them all. She loved driving her red convertible and loving her little maltese fur baby, Bodie!
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James "Jim" Winters; daughters, Denise Johnson of Bay City, Texas, Darcy Downie of Troy, N.Y., and Carla Rae Southard of Sargent, Texas; four stepdaughters, Sylvia Reynolds, Marilyn Ellis, and Phyllis Luttrell, all from California, and Gloria Fields of Nederland, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
