Walter's Story

Walter "Sonny" Lawyer, 78, passed away on Nov. 28, 2017, at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Arizona.
He was born Oct. 28, 1939, in Washington, Indiana to Lee Fredrick and Agnes (Cornilius) Lawyer.
Sonny retired in 1995 after 30 years as a pipe fitter with the Local 18. He was a member of the Idlewold Country Club. Sonny enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, wood working, and driving.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Lawyer of Markleville; daughter, Kathy McKee of Indianapolis; son, Travis Lawyer of Markleville; stepdaughter, Lynnette Craig of Anderson; siblings, Dwayne (Peggy) Lawyer, Donald (Ruth Ann) Lawyer, and Barbara Schaller; six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Sonny was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Wisner; stepson, Bradley Craig; and 10 siblings.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Wilson St. Pierre, Lahm Chapel 211 E. State St., Pendleton, with Joey Shannon and Keith Wooden officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
