William Conrad "Bill" Owens

William Conrad Bill Owens LAPEL [mdash] William Conrad "Bill" Owens, 71, Lapel, left his earthly home Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, following an extended illness.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1947, in Noblesville, to Douglas and Jane Eleanor (Kaiser) Owens.
Bill graduated from Noblesville High School in 1965 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He retired in 1997 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 30 years of employment. After retirement he worked seasonally for Boram Crop Service.
Bill was an active member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212 where he had served as commander, secretary and treasurer; and the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4313.
Left to cherish his memory are two sisters, Melinda and Ed Roberts and Marilou Owens; his devoted companion, Bonnie Frist; two nieces, Betsy and Rich Gutierrez and Sara and Dean VanDyke and family; and extended family, Kimberly and Michael Alexander and family and Robert and Shelli Frist and family; and several dear cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 N. Main St., Lapel, with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel, where the Lapel American Legion will perform military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel American Legion Post 212.

So sorry for your loss. Bill and I had a lot of fun times together through the years. . Sorry I am not able to make it to the funeral however my thoughts are with your family during this sad time.
