SENECA, S.C. — Annie B. Foust Barnett, 91, passed peacefully recently at Keowee Place, Seneca, S.C.
Born in Wells County, Indiana, she is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Mary Ethel Foust, owners of Foust Trucking Company in Anderson and three brothers, Robert, Thomas and Harold.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1943 and enjoyed planning and attending class reunions. She graduated from Jordan Conservatory of Music at Butler University in Indianapolis in 1947 and Ball State University in 1951 with a master's in education. She was an elementary school teacher in Anderson for 38½ years, lastly at the former Franklin Elementary School.
She was head of the Presbyterian Church Children's Choir for several years. She was worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in the 1970s. She was a member of the BPW, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and instrumental in establishing the Anderson/Madison County Visitors Bureau.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia (Pete) West, Walhalla, S.C., and Mary Carsten, Maybell, Colorado, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She loved playing bridge (and was very good!), visiting Las Vegas and had taken several cruises.
She was described a feisty lady with a great enthusiasm for life as shown in her support of Clemson University, as seen in the accompanying photo.
