Arthur's Story

Text size

Arthur C. "Buss" Morgan, 79, Anderson passed away Aug. 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Community Hospital Anderson. He was born Aug. 24, 1937 in Muncie.
Art grew up in Dunkirk, IND. but graduated from Anderson High School and was an avid fan of the AHS Indians for many years.
Art was a retired U.S. Army veteran and a GM Delco-Remy retiree. He loved working with the youth, coaching church basketball and Little League and was active with the Boy Scouts for over 50 years - still serving as an active member of Troop 208. He loved the Lord, and had three church homes: Meadowbrook Baptist, South Meridian Church of God and First United Methodist Church.
He thoroughly enjoyed camping, white water rafting, fishing for trout in Spring River, ARK., sitting around a big camp fire exchanging stories, having those fun cookouts, traveling, watching the Yankees and Notre Dame and playing cards and board games with family and friends. But he was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family, especially when the two great-grandkids came to visit. He was proud of his country and was proud to serve it - usually wearing a patriotic tee shirt.
Art is survived by the love of his life, Beverly D. Morgan, whom he married April 9, 1960; children, Amy C. (Pat) Yahner-Blair, Alan C. Morgan and Arthur Charles "Chuck" (Amy Jo) Morgan; grandchildren, Joshua (Dan) Blair-Rattray, Brock (Tavia) Morgan, Brannon Morgan, Brooklyn Morgan, Shaina Poole and Joe Yahner-Blair; great-grandchildren, Amara Sage Morgan and Gavin Andrea; aunt, Ruth Morgan, Albany, IND.; sister-in-law Carolyn (Jack) Sigler, of Mytrle, MO; brother-in-law, Larry Dark, Ozark Acres, ARK, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon S. and Mary Catherine Morgan.
BSA Troop 208 will honor Art, who always encouraged them to soar with the eagles, with a Celebration of Life memorial at South Meridian Church of God, 2402 Meridian Street, Anderson at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made in Art's memory to the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" http://act.alz.org/goto/Keep-on-Bussin or give to a family member. The walk will be Sept. 23rd at Shadyside Park or made a donation to the charity of your choice.
On line condolences may be shared at Neptune Society, Indianapolis.
