Bessie Faylene Wray, 71, resident of the Yorktown Healthcare Center, passed away at the nursing home Sunday morning, June 11, 2017, after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Columbia, Ky., the daughter of Charles and Mable Burton Blankenship Simpson.
She had been a homemaker most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, L.C. Simpson, Michael "Jr." Lumpkin, Jack Simpson and Marshall Simpson; a grandson, Chase Wray; and sisters, Connie Brown and Clemedine Simpson.
Survivors are her son, Gary Wray (Marlena) of New Castle; a daughter, Beverly Mattingly (Ronnie) of Lebanon, Ky.; half sister, Janie Cole (Larry) of Michigan; three grandchildren, Lauren Wray, Bren Mattingly and Jade Mattingly; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Ky., at 1 p.m. (Kentucky time) on Thursday with Pastor Marty Ballard officiating.
