Betty A. (Bricker) Ables, 81, Anderson, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Elmcroft of Muncie following an extended illness.
She was born on May 26, 1935, in Fort Recovery, Ohio to Sylvester "Dutch" and Catherine (Fowler) Bricker. She was a graduate of Portland High School-Class of 1953 and had lived in Alexandria since 1973. She and her late husband Max Ables, owned the former Frankton Liquor Store and she managed apartments that they owned. She had been an office administrator for Stephen Clase-Attorney. She retired in 1997 as a sales representative for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company. Betty worked in the office of Craig Roofing following her retirement. She worked hard all of her life to provide and care for her family.
Survivors include three sons, Steven (Kristine) Ables of Irvine, Calif., Kevin (Jennifer) Ables of Muncie, and David (Gayla) Ables of Anderson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marge Schenking and Mary Kay Gaw of Centerville, Ohio, and Dorothy Voisard of Piqua, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Max Ables in 2013; and her brother, Richard Bricker in 2012.
At Betty's request cremation will take place with private interment services at the convenience of the family.
Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria is handling the arrangements for the Ables family.
