Carol's Story

Carol K. Etchison, age 75, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Miller's Merry Manor Chesterfield after an extended illness. She was born on June 26, 1942, in Elwood, the daughter of Robert and Wilma (Sipple) Benham.

She graduated in 1960 from Frankton High School and married Myron Etchison on Dec. 10, 1961. She attended court reporting school while in Florida and was a court reporting secretary. Upon returning to Anderson with her husband, she worked at several banks and was a hair beautician in her home. She was a member of the Red Bud Quilt Club and was a lifelong quilt maker making several award-winning quilts. She loved to go to quilt shows, traveling and camping, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Carol is survived by her husband of 55 years, Myron Etchison, and their two children, Andrea (Mick) Coryell of Anderson, and Michelle (Barry) Tester of Port Orchard, Washington. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Katie Coryell, Colin Coryell and Megan Zacharias; sister, Sharon Shivley; sister-in-law, Janice Weber; nieces Susan Hilderbrand, Shari Lyons and Sherry Salyer; nephews Wally Shively, Justin Weber and Chris Etchison; and cousins David Etchison, Danny Etchison and Doug Etchison.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol's family would like to thank the staff of Miller's Merry Manor and Heartland Hospice for their care, dedication and support for Carol and her family. A celebration of life funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton, with Pastor Donna Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the K. of P. and I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
