Charles 'Charlie''s Story
Charles "Charlie" Sigler, age 90, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Pendleton, Ind., died Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 2017, at Our House Senior Living in Austin, Minn. Charles Edward Sigler was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Ingalls, Ind., the son of Horace H. and Dollie M. (Bramel) Sigler.
He attended school in Indiana, graduating from Fortville, Ind., high school in 1945, before attending Anderson College in Anderson, Ind. During World War II, Charlie served in the United States Army and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan, at the end of the war. He returned to Indiana, where he was employed at Anaconda Wire & Cable during the 1950's and 1960's. He later worked in auto sales, retiring in 1998.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching college basketball especially the Indiana Hoosiers. He was a member of American Legion Post 117 in Pendleton, Ind.
Survivors include his children, Mike (Janie) Sigler of Ingalls, Ind., and Kristi (Jim) Robling of Geist, Ind.; stepchildren, Christofer (Linda) Bronnenberg of Carson, Calif., and Summer (Matt) Cano of Austin, Minn.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Leon Sigler of Jasonville, Ind.; his former wives, Mona Sigler of Ingalls, Ind., and Viki Sigler of Austin, Minn.; also many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harry Sigler; and one sister, Sharon Baker.
Memorial graveside services will be held at noon Friday at Menden Cemetery near Pendleton, Ind., with military honors. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with local arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
