David L. Bailey, 78, Anderson, died Jan. 13, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson after an extended illness.
He was a lifetime resident of Anderson.
He graduated from Anderson High School in 1956. He owned and operated Bailey Insurance. In retirement, he drove a school bus for Anderson Transit.
He was a member of Madison Park Church of God.
He was a past president of Anderson Noon Kiwanis Club and Jaycees. He was a former member of Anderson Newspapers Inc. and the YMCA. He had been a member of the Elks Lodge 209, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Central Indiana Old Car Club, Life Underwriters, as well as a board member of the Salvation Army and Crime Stoppers.
He was a Gideon. He was a Mason and a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Madison County Shrine Club. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Nancy England Bailey; a son, Scott (wife, Wendy) Bailey; his dog, Holly; three grandchildren, Brady, Isabelle and Jordyn Bailey; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Bailey.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chad Bailey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Cecil Wilson, and Phyllis and Jack Beckett; two brothers, Robert Bailey and Tom Bailey; and his parents, Edwin and Roena Bailey.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Madison Park Church of God, 67th Street and Providence Road, Anderson, with Pastor Jim Lyon officiating.

Mr. Bailey's body was donated to ProCare.
