David Alan Beam, 66, former New Castle resident, now residing in Anderson, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at his residence following a one and a half year battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 19, 1951, in New Castle, a son of Alfred Nelson and Ella Marie Surber Beam. He was raised in New Castle and was a 1969 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Castle. He enjoyed family activities, boating, fishing and hunting. He retired from Kroger after 44 years of service, where he had worked his way up from sack boy to various executive positions, including manager of several stores.
Left to cherish his loving memory include his wife, Sherrie Hueston Beam; mother, Ella Marie Surber Beam of Seymour; son, Sean Beam of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter, Natalie Beam of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Sonna (husband, Howard) Wente of Seymour; niece, Valerie (husband, Warren) McDonald and their children, Rachael and Caleb, of Greenwood; stepdaughter, Kim (husband, Steve)Phillips; granddaughters, Morgan and Courtney Hoschouer; great-granddaughter, Valyla Blazer; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Beam.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home & Cremation Services in New Castle.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
