Don E. Baker, 83, Alexandria, passed away on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Fla.
He was born on Jan. 21, 1934, in Ledbetter, Ky., to Clarence and Clora (Gremer) Baker.
Don was a truck driver for most his life and retired from Holland Trucking in 1994 after 30 years of driving.
He was former member of the Alexandria Masonic Lodge and attended the former Calvary Temple in Anderson. He was also a member of the Teamsters. Don enjoyed fishing, boating and "teasing" his family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (John) Knapp, Debbie (Tim) Horn and Cindy Benson, all of Alexandria; two sons, Dennis (Tamee) Baker of Summitville, and Terry (Elizabeth) Baker of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; former son-in-law, Bob Benson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Ruby Baker in 2015; a grandson, Justin Benson; four brothers; and a sister.
Services honoring Don's life and legacy will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria. The Rev. Courtley Granger will officiate. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home after 1 p.m. on Thursday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
