Doris Mae Smith, 83, of Anderson, passed away Jan. 15, 2017, at Rawlins House, Pendleton.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1933, in Clark County, Ohio, and resided most of her life in Anderson.
Doris graduated from Erlanger High School, Erlanger, Ky., and the LPN program at Anderson University in 1970.
She retired in 1990 as an LPN for St. John's Hospital after 20 years of service.
She attended East Side Church of God. She loved NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon, reading and fishing.
Doris is survived by her sons, Marvin Smith and Randal Smith; grandchildren, Teresa (Nathan) VanHorn, Randal T. (Amanda) Smith, Justin C. (Stephanie) Smith, and Kyle S. (Hailey)Smith; sister, Florabell Rower; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Moore, Derek Harmon, Baylee Smith, Joslyn Smith, Ethan Smith, Cameron Smith, Kayley Smith and Kenzley Smith.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hulda Koon; father, the Rev. J. Walter Koon; husband, Melvin Smith; brother, James Koon; and brother-in-law, Bill Rower.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with a Vigil by the Nursing Honor Guard.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Kinner officiating. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
