Elliot Murdock Jr., 94, of Anderson, passed away on April 5, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 23, 1923, in Anderson, where he resided all of his life.
He worked as a meat cutter for 53 years, 30 of those years at Pay Less Super Market.
He was a member of The Cross Church of Irondale, Fellowship Masonic Lodge 681 F&AM, and the Madison County Shrine Club. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He enjoyed listening to music, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family.
Elliot is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sarah R. "Millie" (York) Murdock; daughter, Deborah R. (Paul) Cox; brothers, Norman Murdock, and Everett "Charlie" Murdock; daughter-in-law, Peg Murdock; grandchildren, Shelly, Jerry, Gary, Lisa, Kelly, Kris, Casey, and Mathew; 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons, David L. Murdock, and Garner W. Jenkins; mother, Maggie Murdock; father, Elliot Murdock Sr.; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Mahoney officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
