Gary Wayne Ake, 79, of Anderson, passed away on June 17, 2017, at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1937, in Hartford City, and resided most of his life in Anderson.
Gary was graduated from Hartford City High School and served his country in the United States Air Force.
He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 30 years of service.
He was a member of The American Legion and the Eagles. He also was a member of the Daleville Volunteer Fire Department, where he was assistant chief at one time.
Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonita Louise Ake, of Anderson; children, Steve W. (Vicki) Ake, of Anderson, Darrell L. (Pamela) Ake, of Cross Plains, and Jeannie K. (Pete) Fields, of Anderson; siblings, Valdon (Della) Ake, of Fortville, Jean Ake, of North Carolina, and Myrna (Jim) Davis, of Lapel; grandchildren, Jessica, Jerimiah, Christina, Sandra, Ashley, Sarah, Heather, Amanda, Rex Jr., Kimi, Billy; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Brian Ake and Rex Ake; mother, Marge Allenah (Gosnell) Ake; and father, Gerald Ake.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the hospice providers, Adriene, Andrea, Susan, Rob and Dr. Ledyard for their loving care of Gary.
Cremation will take place, with burial in Anderson Memorial Park at a later date.
Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory has been entrusted with Gary's arrangements.
