George E. 'Pappy' Burton, 89, of Anderson, passed away June 1, 2017, in Spring Hill, Fla., of natural causes.
He was born March 26, 1928, in Anderson, where he resided most of his life until moving to South Carolina then to Florida. George was a Master Pressman and assumed full responsibility for the operations at Burton Printing later retiring from Hudson Printing.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, Korean SV Med 306 Transportation Co. He enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking out, fixing anything with his hands and a great passion for watching old westerns.
His greatest love was getting his family together and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Mark (wife, Rhonda) Burton, Mary (husband, Dan) Hopkins, Michael Burton, Michelle Burton and Myra DeLeon (Burton); four grandchildren, Brea, Ryan, Joseph and Myra Joe; three great-grandchildren, Elliotte, Carter and Elijah; a sister, Carolyn Sue (husband, Marvin) Keesling; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Jean (Vaughn) Burton; parents, Harvey and Fern; brother, Harvey Jr.; and sisters, Eileen and Catherine.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery (Block J) for family and friend who wish to attend.
A Celebration of Life will follow the service at 7430 W. Eighth Street Road.
