Jack Eugene Wright, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Countryside Manor Health and Living Center in Anderson.
He was born on April 6, 1940, in Greentown, to Orville and Bernice (Hiatt) Wright. He graduated from Summitville High School-Class of 1958. Jack served with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during peace time.
He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1990 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in both Alexandria and Edmonton, Ky. He was a member of the Edmonton Baptist Church. Jack was a skilled woodworker and like to putter in his garage. He was a fan of western movies.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Matney) Wright, whom he married July 27, 1987; six daughters, Anna (Jerry) Young of Alexandria, Linda (Daniel) Swango of Geneva, Joan Matney of Hartford City, Sheila Matney of Summitville, Nannette Matney ofAlexandria, and Patsy (Jeff) Cash of Middletown; three sons, Joe (Michelle) Wright of Wolcottville, Jim (Robin) Wright of Winterhaven, Fla., and Christopher (Theresa) Matney of Pennville; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Georgina) Wright of Greenwood; sister, Elaine (Dick) Guthrie in Indiana; special friends and caregivers, Gene and Joan Phelps, Jimmy and Diane Phelps, Brian and Cindy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason Gates; and two brothers, Duane Stevens and Lowell Stevens.
Services honoring Jack's life will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville, with the Rev. Clyde Denney officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
