James H. May, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away April 12, 2017.
He was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Anderson, to Howard A. and Nondas M. Beall May. He married Patricia Ann Venis on May 26, 1962. James graduated from Highland High School, class of 1957, received his bachelor of arts degree from Ball State and his masters of art from the University of Colorado. He was employed as a school teacher at Arsenal Tech High School for 36 years in the Math and Science Magnet Program, retiring in 2001. He also taught electronics in the night school program at Indianapolis Public Schools.
James was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, a faithful member of Post Road Christian Church and attended Indian Creek Christian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Patricia; sons, Craig (Jo), Andrew (Vicki), Mark (Michelle) May; daughter, Debbie Hill (Zach); grandchildren, Joshua May (Kasey), Jordyn Brown (Blair), Emily May, Jacob May, Katie May, Brittney Lee (Brandon), Alyssa May, Madison May, Anna Seitz, Jordyn Hill; great-granddaughter, Lillian Lee; and sister, Marilyn Reynolds (David).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with funeral services Tuesday at noon.
