James "Jim" G. Shoemaker, 83, lifetime Daleville resident, passed away with his family by his side at Miller's Merry Manor in Middletown on Friday, March 31, 2017.
Jim was born in Daleville on June 23, 1933, to the late John Shoemaker and Jane Walker Fernald. He was a 1953 graduate of Daleville High School and owned and operated Jim Shoemaker Services for 39 years. Previously he had worked for Shumaker Electric in Daleville for 20 years.
Jim was a member of Daleville Christian Church and the Anderson Elks Club BPOE 209.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Joyce DeHaven Shoemaker; two children, Jamalyn "Jamie" Seelye (Rodney) Indianapolis, and Jeffrey V. Shoemaker (Kathy) Daleville; two grandchildren, Lex Shoemaker, Richmond, and Alena Seelye, Indianapolis; one great-grandchild, Mila Shoemaker; one brother, David V. Shoemaker, Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services to celebrate Jim's life will be held at Daleville Christian Church, 14220 W. Daleville Road, Daleville, at 4 p.m. Monday with Pastor Gary McManus officiating. Burial will follow at Saunders Cemetery. Friends and family may visit at Daleville Christian Church from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to service time on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Daleville Christian Church or the National Diabetes Association.
