Janet Ellen Riffey, 76, of Pendleton, died March 12, 2017, at the Monticello House in Anderson after a lengthy battle with dementia.
She was born July 7, 1940, near Arcanum, Ohio, to the late Forrest and Amy (Denlinger) Miller.
She was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church in October of 1958. She was faithful in attendance, in visits, and in helping many friends, family, and neighbors.
On April 16, 1959, she married Paul E. Riffey with his five children, Melvin (Connie) Riffey, Rachel (Bruce) Princell, James (Jennie) Riffey, Mark (Karen) Riffey, and Jesse (Patricia) Riffey. Paul and Janet's children are Nancy (Tom) Beery, Gerald (Nadine) Riffey, Virginia (Doug) Brooks, and Darryl (Jennifer) Riffey with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren surviving.
She is also survived by one sister, Lois Jean Mohler; sisters-in-law, Eula and Bob Flora, Miriam Kuns, and Ruth Lentz; brothers-in-law, Donald Balsbaugh and Melvin Filbrun; in-laws, Bonnie and Richard Reavis, and Harold and Bonnie Riffey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Kuns, Lee Kuns, Bonnie Balsbaugh, Mary Filbrun and Glen Mohler; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul Miller, Marvin Miller and Naomi Miller Wagoner, and Norman Miller; and great-grandson, Wyatt Brubaker.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on county roads 600 West and 400 South, near Pendleton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, near Pendleton, with the home brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pendleton.
