John Bouvier Dowling, 51, of Anderson, died April 3, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson after a sudden illness.
He was born Dec. 28, 1965, in Idaho, the son of William Jr. and Marcia (Chase) Dowling.
He served in the United States Navy.
He was a materials handler for Progress Rail.
He was a NASCAR fan and New Orleans Saints fan.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Wood) Dowling of Anderson, whom he married in Pendleton on July 8, 1995; father, William Dowling Jr.; three stepchildren, Jason Etchison, Joshua Etchison and Marissa Etchison; brother, William J. (Brenda) Dowling III; sister, Marti (Shawn) Kleinpeter; five grandchildren, Ariah Etchison, Jadah Etchison, Chloe Etchison, Tyler Doelle, and Claire Doelle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcia (Chase) Dowling; and his grandmother, Martha Chase.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark of Chesterfield Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
