Jon Michael "Mike" Grandison, 74, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on May 5, 1942, in Anderson, the son of Frank Hilton and Mary Virginia (Sanders) Grandison. He graduated from Markleville High School and attended Ball State University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mike was employed as a lab technician for 33 years at Delco Remy and then at Magnaquench until his retirement in 1994.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon and an elder, Delaware Country Club, Muncie Elks Lodge 245, American Legion Post 327, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board, and enjoyed golf and traveling.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Jayne; his mother, Mary V. Grandison, Anderson; his sister, Patsy Ann Grandison Schultz, Noblesville; his brother, James Timothy Grandison, San Diego, Calif.; his niece, Debra Owen (Robert); two great-nieces, Delaney Ann Jessica DeJong and Alexis Gerrit DeJong; seven stepchildren, Cheryl Myers (John), Karen Delaney (Larry), Linda Foust, Brad Foust (Carley), Mike Foust, Michelle Pritchett (Dave), and Betsy Wright (Tim); 12 grandchildren, Christopher Delaney, Amanda Murphy (Fred), Brian Delaney, Jessica Caldwell (Ryan), Sarah Pritchett, Emily Spencer (Eric), Benjamin Pritchett, Hayden Foust, Adam Foust, Kyle Foust (Lacey), Madeleine Wright, and Rachel Myers (Zach); four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Luke, Delaney, and Gavin; and his aunt, Doris Grandison Shrake, Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a stepdaughter, Michelle Foust.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Patrick Smith, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Naylor, and the Rev. Dr. Donald Collins officiating. Cremation was held.
A reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
The family would like to express their appreciation to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Oncology Department and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice for the loving care and support they provided to Mike.
