Kathryn 'Kate''s Story
Kathryn "Kate" L. Arehart, age 91, of Frankton, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on June 9, 1926, in Elwood, to the late Noah and Effie (Minniear) Willey.
On Dec. 19, 1943, she married the love of her life, Albert M. Arehart. They shared more than 70 years of marriage together before his death in 2014.
Kate retired from Delco Remy Corp., where she worked in production for many years. She was a devoted member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and all kinds of crafts.
Kate's family would like to thank Jesika, Susan and Chaplain Margie for the loving care they gave to Kate during her illness.
Kate is survived by her daughter, Linda Mitchell, of Frankton; son, Michael Arehart, of Frankton; four granddaughters, Lisa (Mitch Curtis) Barker, Laura (Jack) Everling, LeAnne (Tim Kruse) Richardson, Leslie (Roger Witcher) Hamm; eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Jeanne Arehart and Barbara Jenkins.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Willey and Effie Willey; her husband, Albert M Arehart, who died Jan. 21, 2014; and five siblings.
A funeral service celebrating Kate's life will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, with Chaplain Margie Vandergraff officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
