Larry J. Foster, 75, Summitville, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie from complications from a fall at his farm.
He was born on July 28, 1941, in Muncie to Joseph and Lois (Janney) Foster. He was a graduate of Gaston High School, Class of 1959, and also attended Ball State University. Larry had been a truck driver for Central Transport and ABF Freight. He retired in 1995 as a shop foreman from Ontario Corporation in Muncie after 25 years. He has farmed almost all of his lifetime. He was a member of the Gaston United Methodist Church. Larry was well known for his skill in refurbishing antique Case tractors, tractors which he then used daily on his farm. He was the No. 1 fan of his grandkids and their activities.
He is survived by his wife, Louise (Clock) Foster, whom he married July 1, 1962; daughter, Gail (David) Riese of Auburn, Alabama; two sons, Eric (Kali) Foster of Plymouth and John (Caitlin) Foster of Anderson; grandchildren, Meghan Foster, Audrey Foster, Gabriel Foster, Ellia Foster and Kila Foster; two sisters, Juanita (Robert) Benham of Muncie and Lois Ann (Steve) Edwards of Paris, Illinois; two brothers, Lynn David Foster of Paradise, Texas, and James (Denise) Foster of Summitville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Arden Foster.
Services honoring Larry's life, faith and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Gaston United Methodist Church, 105 Main St., Gaston, with Pastor Tim Glidden officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call at the Gaston United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday or after noon on Thursday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made wherever the donor would prefer.
