Lawrence W. Pelfrey, 86, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, following a brief illness.
He was born on May 26, 1931, in Anderson to Taft and Naomi (Lawrence) Pelfrey. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School's Class of 1949 and attended Ball State Teacher's College in Muncie. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Lawrence retired from Delco-Remy in 1983 after 31 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting.
Survivors include daughter, Nancy (Zebb) Starr, Anderson; son, Michael (Beth) Pelfrey, Kissimmee, Fla.; sister, Suellen Warfel, Anderson; grandchildren, Samantha Eicher, Joshua Starr and Meghan Pelfrey; five great-grandchildren; longtime companion, Janet Arline, Anderson; nephew, Duncan Ebert; and niece, Alisha Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services honoring Lawrence's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria. Pastor Jerry Hilligoss will officiate. Entombment with military honors will take place at the Elm Ridge Mausoleum in Muncie.
Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Stepping Stones for Veterans through the funeral home.
