Mrs. Lena Hensley, 81, of Thorntown, passed away July 20, 2017, at Parkwood in Lebanon.
Lena was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Harlan, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Byrd and Cindy (Shope) Blanton. She was married to Wright Hensley. He passed away in May.
Lena worked for Best Lock Corp. as a production associate. She loved decorating and cooking; she was a true "Southern Belle." Her family and church family were very important to her.
Survivors include her sons, Leon (Amy) Hensley, of Thorntown and Melvin (Debbie) Hensley, of Martinsville; brother, Jack Blanton, of Middletown; sisters, Mary (E.B.) Mulligan, of Lexington, Ky., Jean (Bill) Gibson, of Virginia, Berdina (the late George) Hensley, Sheri (Stanley) Smith, Brenda Rouse, of Lexington Ky., Gail (Barry) Schraeder, of Marietta, Ga., and Debbie (Ray) Hollets, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Daniel Hensley, Crystal (Tommy) Lohman, Allyson Hensley, Brittany Hensley and Andrew Hensley; and great-grandchild Sage Rose Hensley.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harry Blanton; and infant son, Stanley Raymond Hensley.
Family and friends will gather Sunday for visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. with Pastor Steve Branstutter officiating in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Lena will be laid to rest at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.
