Former Summitville resident Letta Mae Watson, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Elmcroft of Muncie following an extended illness.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1934, to Chester and Isabelle (Howard) Watson in Boone Township, Madison County. She was a graduate of Gaston High School-Class of 1952. She worked for the Gaston Bank for seven years and retired from Merchants Bank, now First Merchants Bank in Muncie in 1997 after a banking career spanning 45 years. She belonged to the card club in Applewood Villas in Muncie. She was a volunteer at the American Health Network and the RSVP, Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Letta was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed cross stitching.
She is survived by three nephews and three nieces, Larry (Sue) Richards of Summitville, Ron (Carol) Richards of Avon, Shirley (Terry) Riggins of Anderson, Darlene (Denny) Clevenger of Fairmount, Diana (Richard) Montgomery of Hartford City, and Benny (Suzy) Watson of Marion; and several great-nieces, great-nephews; great-great-nieces; and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene (Vernice) Watson; two sisters, Gathel (John) Richards and Annabelle (Herb)Ice.
Services honoring Letta Mae's life and legacy will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville, with Dr. Joyce Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville.
Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
