Mary Margaret (Fadely) Whitworth, 76, resident of Springport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born Jan. 5, 1941, in New Castle, the daughter of Keith and Blanche Rutherford Fadley.
She was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School (1959) and received her master's degree in education from Ball State University. She had been a teacher for 39 years, retiring in 2002 from New Castle Schools.
She was a member of the Sulphur Springs Christian Church, the Retired Teachers Association of Henry County, Indiana State Teachers Association and the National Education Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Kay and Jay Fadley.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Joseph "Whit" Whitworth of Springport; two adopted children, Latisha Wine of Michigan and Leah Wine of Indianapolis; special family friends, Shirley, Donna, Risa, Don and Marge; stepsons, Tim Whitworth of Anderson and Tony (Kathleen) Whitworth of California; a sister, Barbara (Ermil) Stohler of Naples, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Stephen Stohler of Naples, Fla., Marilou (Adam) Jakubielski of Bonita Springs, Fla.; great-nephews and great-nieces, Tristan and Taryn Stohler, Jenna, Ty and Ava Jakubielski; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Chase) Holmes of Shelbyville, Curtis (Brittany) Whitworth of Indianapolis, Billy Ray Whitworth of Texas, and Derek and Braden Whitworth of California; and three great-grandchildren, Ellabelle Holmes, London Whitworth and Isabelle Whitworth.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. Fifth St., Middletown, with Marty Ballard and C.J. Buskirk officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. March 3 and from noon to 2 p.m. March 4 at the funeral home.
