Monte Alfrey, 68, of Anderson, died April 10, 2017, at Community Hospital of Anderson after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 9, 1948, in Anderson. He was the son of Everett and Norma Jean (Smith) Alfrey.
He served in the United States Navy.
He worked production at General Motors at Fisher Guide Marion M.F.D. for 30 + years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and United Auto Workers. He enjoyed playing poker, working on puzzle books, playing the lottery and watching reality T.V.
He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth "Beth" (Eric) Smith, Jeff (Candie) Hileman, Michael Hileman and Kimberly Hileman; three sisters, Connie (Bill) Hope, Lynn Alfrey-Willhite, and Polly (Sid) Castor; seven grandchildren, Jakob Smith, Bret Hileman, Cora Hileman, Monica (Shaun) Kocher, Vince (Ashley) Hileman, LaDonna (Cody) Parker, and Dylan (Ashlei) Miller; 15 great-grandchildren; three nephews, Jason (Crystal) Pickering, Brendon (Robin) Hope, and Alex (Ashley) Witham; special friends, Ruth Conroy, Rick and Minnie Graham, Christina Linville, Dan and Kathy Key, and Judy Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 22 years, Pamela Kay Alfrey in 2009; and grandson, Monte Lee Clark in 2016.
Service will be on Friday at noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Clifton Ashlock of Memorial Circle Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery with Veterans of Foreign Wars military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. until the service at noon at the funeral home.
