Mozell (Bledsoe) Young, 105 years old, died in her home in Anderson on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
Mozell was born Dec. 7, 1911, in Margaret, Alabama, to Harper N. and Lela Bledsoe, and was the eldest sister to four brothers and six sisters.
She married Robert Young, they moved to Anderson in 1936, and she became the mother of 12 children. She was a productive worker inside and outside the home. Mozell was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses more than 50 years.
Close family members predeceased include her parents; stepsister Viola Gaston; brothers Aaron/Jack, Virgil, John W. and George Bledsoe; sisters Thelma Bledsoe, Omelia Nix, Alma Chatman, Anna Rice, Louise Sims and Betty Bledsoe; as well as her son, Rufus Young; daughters Thelma Young, Hazel L. (Leodis) Coleman, Agnes R. (Bobby) Coates and Martha A. (Louis) Rayford.
Mozell will be fondly remembered by daughters Gladys L. (Theodis)Turner,
Joyce (E.P.) Ivey, Phyllis E. Young and Wilazell Ervin, all of Anderson; and sons Roy Young, Miami, Florida; William C. Young, Augusta, Georgia; and Brockley T Ervin, Anderson. She was also grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many.
Calling will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, with funeral service commencing immediately afterward at 1 p.m. at L.C. May Funeral Services, 2024 Madison Ave., Anderson. Brother Tim Davis, South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, will be officiating.
