Nettie Jean Kendall, "the Nut," 80, formerly of Anderson, Ind., passed away June 2, 2017, in Crestview, Fla.
Jean was the best wife and loving mother a family could have ever imagined. She taught her family to be strong in every situation. Jean, and her loving husband of 55 years, Jimie Kendall, relocated to Defuniak Springs, Fla., in 2011 after spending 46 years, and too many cold winters, in Indiana.
Nettie Jean was born in Blue Ridge, Ga.
She is preceded in death by her parents, MG and Edna Shirk; and stepbrothers, Joel and Winston Watkins.
Jean is survived by her husband, Jimie Kendall; daughter, Virginia Stewart (Bob) of Chesterfield, Ind.; son, Rex Kendall of Terre Haute, Ind.; daughter, Kerrie Henderson (Jim) of Pendleton, Ind.; grandson, Jerry Stewart (Jess) of Chesterfield, Ind.; granddaughter, Kailan Lilly (Joe) of Chesterfield, Ind.; grandson, Kyle Stewart (Breanna) of Pendleton, Ind.; and three beautiful great-grandchildren.
Nettie Jean will always be remembered for her laughter and fun memories. She always made the best of any situation. She particularly loved when her family and friends would get together. She enjoyed the holidays and helped all the kids bake cookies and candies from old family recipes. She loved quilting, growing roses, and taking care of her feisty Jack Russell Terriers. She was a fan of the Indiana State University Women's basketball team and enjoyed attending some games. She loved vacationing at the beach with family and friends. We will never forget the wonderful memories we shared over the years on the beach, at the pool and just sitting on the porch.
Visitation will be held at Columbus Ave Church of Christ, 4620 Columbus Ave., Anderson, from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
