Paul G. Downey, 100, of Anderson, passed away on March 29, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on May 25, 1916, in Dabney, Ind., and resided most of his life in the Anderson area.
Paul graduated from Holton High School in Holton, Ind. He was a farmer for all of his life.
He was a member of Daybreak Community Church in Lapel. In his spare time, he loved to play cards, especially euchre, but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 80 years, Alma (Mathews) Downey; daughters, Diane (Paul) Lawther of Anderson, Kathleen (Stephen) Brown of Anderson, and Coleen (Bob) Julian of Wolcottville; grandchildren, Mike (Donna) Lawther, Scott Lawther, Shelley Fisher-Chapman, Kent (Jenny) Watson, Rob (Claudia) Fisher, Andy (Ivonne) Anderson, April (Jeff) Bietz, and Todd (Cristina) Brown; and several great- and great-great- grandchildren. Also surviving are two siblings, Helen Jahanigen and Bill Downey; special friend, Buzz Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Agnes (Halberstadt) Downey; brothers, Charles, Gale, Roy, Hubert, and George Downey; and sister, Jean Lemon.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park.
