Peggy Ann's Story

Peggy Ann Harrington Stennis Rucker, 76, of Anderson, passed away Feb. 17, 2017, at Community Hospital North.
She was born June 28, 1940, in Gholston, Mississippi, the daughter of Wilbert and Annie (Westerfield) Harrington.
Peggy retired from Guide Lamp after 25 years of employment. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, baking, knitting, crocheting, decorating her home and church, and taking care of her baby sister and grandchildren. She was an active member of the Watchtower Society and consider them her extended family.
She is survived by her children: Patricia Stennis, Michael (Seta) Stennis, both of Indianapolis, Ozelee (Regina) Stennis, Tommy (Belinda) Stennis, Dorothy Brown, Audrey Stennis, all of Anderson, and Jimmy (Latashia) Stennis, of Fort Wayne; brothers and sisters, Jane (Jimmy) Johnson, Willie Harrington, Martha Pierre, Nancy Flowers, Don Wayne Harrington, Beatrice (Roy) Huston, Sally ( Gerry) West and Mary Ballou; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; special friend and ex-husband Ozell Stennis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rucker; parents; stepmother, Callie Bates; son, David J. Stennis; brother, Wilbert Harrington Jr.; sister, Bobby Harrington; and great-grandchildren, Kevin Peak and Rodney Nance.
Services will be noon Thursday, Feb. 23, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, with Elder Tim Smith and Pastor Michael Stennis officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
