Rev. Carl's Story
Rev. Carl Stuart Smith, 82, of Middletown passed July 16, 2017, at Community North. Born Feb. 27, 1935, in Anderson, Carl graduated from Vienna High School and Olivet Nazarene University.
He retired from Delco Remy in 1993 after 38 years of service.
Carl was a pastor at Cowan Nazarene, Mechanicsburg Wesleyan Church and 9th Street Wesleyan Church and helped at Central Wesleyan Church. He and his wife operated Precious Jewels Daycare in their home for 15 years.
Carl is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Sanders) Smith; children, Shiela (Greg) Filson, Mark Smith, Larry Smith; siblings, Susie Menden, Patricia (Rich) Catalano; grandchildren, Victoria Filson (Giovani) Menale, Lindsey Shinabarger, Payton Filson, Barry Walton, Samantha Smith, Morgan Smith, Michael Smith, Shalotta Smith, Nova Jones, Thomas Jones, Darian Jones; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Nova, Greyson; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith; brothers-in-law, Bill Huber, Denny (Ruby) Sanders and Denver (Sandy) Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Belle (Noller) Smith Thompson Kerley; father, William Harry Smith; siblings, Wendell H. Smith, Pauline Huber; brother-in-law, Warren Menden; stepfathers, Lester Thompson and Paul Kerley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory.
Services will be Thursday, July 20, 2017, 11 a.m., Central Wesleyan Church, 2400 Delaware St., Anderson, with Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating.
Burial will take place at Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Wesleyan Church, Honey Bees Daycare Fund.
