Robert "Bob" Hartley Johnson, 70, of Anderson, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Lafayette to the late Robert and Helen (Carlisle) Johnson.
Bob served our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his Harley, woodworking and helping people any time he could.
Bob married Barbara (Bowman) Johnson on May 17, 1985 and they shared 31 years of marriage. In 2001 Bob retired from General Motors after 22.5 years of service. Bob was a member of the U.A.W. Local 663 and the Anderson American Legion. He enjoyed his trips to Hoosier Park and was a very family oriented man. Bob will be sadly missed but joyfully remembered by his loving family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Bowman) Johnson; daughter, Marnie (Colin) Ratliff, of Chesterfield; granddaughter, Micha (John) Inglis; granddaughter, Savannah Browning; great-grandchildren, Denae, Xavia, Riley, and Colton; brother, Carl (Tina) Johnson, of Anderson; sisters, Arlene (Charlie) Lanning, of Anderson, Betty (Jerry) Clem, of Lynn and Carol (Robin) Hensley, of Anderson; sisters-in-law, Billie Bowman and Bonnie Bowman; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Roy (Karel) Junkersfield; and his dog, Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece, Rachelle Hoffman; and in-laws, Bertha Hall and William Bowman.
A graveside service with military funeral honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery, 200 College Drive, Anderson.
Entombment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery Mausoleum.
Dunnichay Funeral Home has been entrusted with Bob's care.
