Ruby's Story

Ruby Margaret Newton, 73, of Summitville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson.
She was born on March 30, 1943, to Elvis and Mamie (Wilson) Hendrick, and has lived in Summitville most of her lifetime. She retired from RCA/Thomson in Marion in 1995 after 22 years of employment. She attended the First Baptist Church in Summitville and enjoyed going to flea markets.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Jeff) Johnson of Indianapolis, and Karen (Randy) Sayre of Alexandria; son, Greg (Jill) Wable of Brookston; stepdaughter, Joell Pulley of Marion; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, J.C. (Carol) Hendrick of Summitville; sisters-in-law, Nancy Hendrick of Summitville, and Kay Hendrick of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jon Newton in 2009; and two brothers, Ansel Hendrick and Harold Hendrick.
Service honoring Ruby's life and legacy will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery at Summitville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
