Theodore Frederick "Ted" Vinson, 93, of Edgewood, passed away on June 27, 2017.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1924, in Anderson.
Ted graduated as the valedictorian of Anderson High School class of 1942 and Purdue University on the dean's list in 1948 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He retired as a supervisor from Delco Remy in 1989 after 41 years of service. He authored four books and donated all the proceeds to the Madison County Historical Society.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, University Club of Anderson, Purdue Alumni Association, Madison County Historical Society, Edgewood Tree Board and Storm Water Board. He was proud to have been the oldest living resident of Edgewood.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (David) Werbil of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor L. Vinson in 2009; and parents, Everett and Jennie Vinson.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Steve Jackson officiating. Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park with military rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Historical Society.
